Sitting in second period, the moment those speakers went off…I had this bad feeling about what the announcement was going to be..
They said someone died last night, I heard your name..but it was a different last name, close to yours, but I wasn’t sure and I was saying it better not be you..it better not be you…
But then they said it again and said your name correctly….
I instantly felt a huge weight take over my body..
I was saying to myself, this can’t be, no, no, i don’t believe its you, this cant be real, no…all I could hear myself say was, no..it can’t be.
I tried to stay tough as I walked with Eva during break who was crying so bad…but once I walked into 3rd period..I couldn’t hold it in any longer and those tears came running down fast. I haven’t cried like that in years…
That moment, was when it hit me that it was you..& I still didn’t want to believe it was true, it had to be a lie.
We eventually had to leave class so we won’t distract the others. All we could do when we went outside was cry and hold each other..then we were soon told to go to the library and there was a lot of people there, crying for you. I was still in disbelief..
So throughout 3rd-4th period, I stayed in the library, crying and thinking about how it was shocking, how you were just at church, you sat in front of me, and I was thinking about your family too. A lot was going in my head, you are such a good kid. Those who got to even know you a tiny bit, past your appearance, are blessed to have gotten to do that.
Remembering some memories I had with you back then and at confirmation retreats…it was all too much..It had to be a dream. You were nice to me man..and I wouldn’t have even expected that from you. You are different in a good way and you truly will be missed man.
Rest In Peace Jay Arr Ulibas.
Keep watch over us from up there. You are in a better place now.
You have made a huge impact on people’s lives even if you didn’t know.
Be easy man. God Bless.
